Washington D.C.
(May 2000)
In
May 2000 we spent a day in Washington D.C. The first thing we did
after breakfast was take a tour of the Capital building. Nick set up
before we left. We were able to see both the Senate floor and the
representative's floor.
We
also saw one of the Vice President's offices. The staff member that
gave us the tour was also seeing it for the first time. This is the
inside of the rotunda.
Each
Vice President has bust in the building. But they were located in one
of the many places that we were not allowed to take photos.
After
seeing the Capital Building, we headed for the Smithsonian. We didn't
have a lot of time so we chose to see one museum, air and space. Then
we walked the mall towards the Washington Monument
Our
next stop, The White House.
When
we were viewing The White House, there was a secret service agent on top of
the building watching the crowd through binoculars. You can see him on
the left hand side in all black.
Our
last stop was Arlington Cemetery. It was very overwhelming visiting a
cemetery of soldiers that gave their lives for their country.
The
eternal flame.
