Killer is about the most unusual
cat that you will ever come across. He looks like a rabbit, sits up
like a prairie dog, and runs like a horse.
His favorite
toys are rubber bands, wadded up paper and plastic bags. Although we don't
allow him to have plastic since he just tries to eat it.
If we're not careful, he digs into our
laundry basket and fishes out black socks. Those he drags to his food dish
in the kitchen. He never takes the white socks, just the black ones.
Weird! He
likes to sleep in our bed for hours. Not on the bed, in the bed, under the
covers. That's also where he likes to run for safety when the dreaded vacuum
cleaner emerges from the closet. Although sometimes he's not able to make it
to the bed. We've found him hunkered in the corner on top of the fridge
before.
He spends a
lot of his time in our closet. Why? We're not sure. He often faces the wall
for a while. Then he'll try to dig at the spot where the floor meets the
wall. He sleep in his carry-box in the closet.
He has a
fetish for Q-tips. He manages to rip the cotton off the ends. What a
mess. Our favorite
oddity about Killer is his love for climbing the walls, literally. He likes
to chase shadows on the wall. Sometimes he just stretches his body
on the
wall, likes he's being frisked. And sometimes we get the best
entertainment
when he just runs, jumps, plants all four feet on the wall and keeps
running. Although we haven't seen him do this much lately. When it's feeding
time, Killer dances around the kitchen. As soon as we open the pantry door
to get his food he dodges right in and turns circles.
We can't keep him out
of there and have a hard time getting him to come out. So sometimes we just
close the door and leave him in there. We know he's ready to come out when
he sticks his paws under the door.
Killer's
biggest fascination is a purple pick. Robin has always had to be careful
about leaving her brush and pick out because Killer loves to rub his face on
them. He kept trying to get a hold of her pick so we finally just let him
have it. He loves it! He loves to have us brush him with it. And he carries
it around in his teeth. Too often at night he wants us to scratch his face
with it so he sits on it and makes this hallow meow sound. We've tried
leaving the pick downstairs at night, but he just brings it right back
upstairs and howls. He also likes to shove his pick under one of the
couches. So it tends to disappear for months at a time. And when
we dig it out we tend to find all other sorts of toys, wadded up paper,
twisty ties, milk jug lids, rubber bands. Killer
loves to play chair in the dining room as you can see here.
Killer likes to sit on the backs of our leather chairs. Here is on
the back of our blue chair in the family room. He tends to hang out
here when we're watching TV. The funniest part is when he first gets
up there. He loves to rub his head on the leather before he settles
in. Sometimes he gets himself so worked up that he's fallen off the
back side of the chair. Nick and Robin had a good laugh at his
expense. He also likes to sit on the back of Robin's chair in the
office. But before he settles in he scratches his paws on the edge of
the chair. It causes the whole chair to rock and makes it very
difficult to type. Killer is not a
cat, he is a full entertainment center. Nick
put in a "cat door" that leads from the master closet to the
laundry room. Killer can use it to get into our room even when our
door is shut. He also uses it for playtime.
